Though George Barris captured many film stars including Elizabeth Taylor, Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, or Frank Sinatra, he is best known for his photographs of Marilyn Monroe. He first met and photographed the actress on the set of The Seven Year Itch in 1954 and later in 1962 in a series that became known as The Last Photos. Indeed, he was the last person to capture Monroe before her untimely death that same year. This photograph, from The Last Photos, conveys an intimate, playful, and comparably less glamorous look at the infamous star.
